Senior Natalie Goodman brought the heat Feb. 12, bowling a perfect 300 game and winning the individual State title in Rockford, Ill.
“I felt accomplished by reaching my ultimate goal of winning [State], but little did I know I would accomplish so much more,” Goodman said.
Goodman’s series high of 799 set a new record for the state, while winning her first State title. This amazing feat also earned OTHS its first State bowling win as well.
Last year, Goodman placed eighth and tried extremely hard to prepare for this year’s competition.
When asked what she did to prepare for state, Goodman stated that she’d “been preparing since last summer.”
“I picked up a good coach, Dan Strubel, who helped me conquer small flaws that made a big difference in my game.”
Goodman scored a total of 2,867 pins, 109 pins in front of senior runner-up Jodi Gawlik from Schaumburg High School.
Goodman later signed a full-ride scholarship with Vanderbilt University to play for their varsity team and to further her education.
“I started getting emails and letters in the mail, and after visiting and loving it, I signed my letter of intent,” Goodman said.
