Girls’ track kicks off season strong

The OTHS girls’ track team ran to success at the Lindbergh Invitational meet. Championship performances were turned in by Tammy Cardenas, Samantha Lapp, Taylor Klinglehoefer and Kaylee Schmitz in the 4×800 relay; Brea Masching, Tasha McClenton, Jada Hill and Alecia Jones in the 4×200 relay; Athena Eccher, Elena Sobrino, Taylor Klingelhoefer, and Kaylee Schmitz in the 4×400 relay; Ashley Sullivan in the shot put and Reneese Batson in the discus. 

On Thursday, the girls challenged the best local competition at the Edwardsville Tiger Relays.  First place performances were run by Sydney Neal in the 3200m; Taylor Klingelhoefer, Samantha Lapp, Tammy Cardenas and Kaylee Schmitz in the 4×800 relay and Tammy Cardenas, Janelle Nikola, Amber Rainge, and Samantha Lapp in the Distance Medley Relay.  The 4×800 team posted a meet record, running the second best time in the state this season.
